Athy Co-op Foundry played a key role in The Golden Bandstand, a public sculpture by Garrett Phelan located at the TU Dublin campus in Grangegorman, Dublin.
The project required the production of large decorative metal panels forming the sides of the bandstand structure.

Detailed mould prepared at Athy Co-op Foundry showing the intricate design elements that would later appear in the cast metal panels of The Golden Bandstand.
Each panel features highly detailed relief designs including birds, microphones, radios and flowing ornamental patterns reflecting themes of music and communication.
This mould shows some of the motifs very clearly:
- Microphones
- Radios
- Turntables
- Birds
- Flowing ornamental ironwork
At the foundry, specialist moulds were prepared to capture the intricate detail of the artwork before the metal casting process began.
